Kids love to play soccer.  They will enjoy it more and will become better players if they learn the basic soccer skills and practice those skills.  The NIS Soccer Academy has designed a program that teaches these basic soccer skills using games and drills designed to refiine these skills in a fun way.  In other words, the kids will have fun while they learn how to use a certain soccer skill.  All of our instructors have extensive soccer coaching and/or playing experience and are under the direction of one of our Senior Instructors.  You can go any where to just kick the ball, come to the NIS Soccer Academy to learn how to play the game.

Tiny Tots - An Introduction to Soccer

The Tiny Tots program is designed for boys and girls between the ages of 3 - 7.  This is an introduction to soccer so the emphasis is on making sure the players have fun while playing with a soccer ball.  Players at this level are not aggressive or competitive so we avoid aggressive type games and skills.  We begin the process of teaching them basic passing, dribbling and shooting skills.  We have the kids play non-aggressive games such as follow-the-leader, soccer tag, fetch-and-retrieve, red-light/green-light, etc.

Becuase of the age of the children we expect that at some point each player will have a "bad day".  Parents should not worry about this.  We have approximately no more than 6 players per instructor so that we can deal with "bad days".

Parents are allowed on the field to listen, watch and/or participate, if they want.  Parents are not on the field to coach their child but, instead, to learn a little bit about soccer.

In most years for Spring Indoor, there are 3 or 4 one-hour Tiny Tots sessions.  The Tiny Tots will meet on Saturday late mornings/early afternoons.  There are strict limits on the number of children allowed at each session.  Once a session is filled,  no more registrations will be taken for that time slot.

Mighty Mites - An Introduction to and a Refinement of Soccer Skills

The Mighty Mites program is designed for boys and girls between the ages of 6 - 10.  Players at this level generally have some soccer playing experience.  We introduce and refine the players individual and team skills.  The age range is not hard in fast. Players must have the maturity to be able to listen to and follow instructions and to display and tolerate a certain level of aggressiveness.  If a player takes the ball away from your child during a game or drill and your child cries or will become upset, he/she is not ready for this level and should look at the Tiny Tots. If you have any questions regarding what level your child should register at we would be happy to help you at any of our scheduled registration.

This program will focus on individual skill improvement as well as beginning team skills.  Technical skill development is crucial for any player who wants to succeed in soccer and the sooner techniques are consolidated the better player he/she will be. Each team will be placed on a team and play games so that they can begin to develop team skills.

Individual player registrations are accepted in the order received (along with payment).  Each session will comprise of 2 x 20 minute games and a 20 minute training session. Each player will receive a t-shirt.  Each player must   wear soccer shin guards and soccer shorts or athletic pants.

The Mighty Mites play each Saturday morning.
