What sets NIS apart from other indoor programs is its philosophy that soccer is
best taught in a fun, stress-free environment. Some programs have no structure and no emphasis on teaching soccer fundamentals
and tactics. Other programs stress teaching soccer fundamentals to the point of taking out all of the fun. NIS
believes that you can help players learn to be better soccer players while at the same time allowing them to have a great
time.
The foundation
necessary to implement the NIS philosophy is to have the right instructors. First, they have to have a basic understanding
of soccer fundamentals. Second, they have to understand and embrace the NIS philosophy.
Steve Nash started the NIS Soccer Academy in 1995 and has been the lead
instructor since the start. Steve has designed a program that allows the players to progress at their own pace, regardless
of age. Steve incorporates variuos soccer games into each session that are designed to teach soccer skills at the same
time that the kids are having a great time playing the game. If you would like to know more about Steve click here.
The NIS program has always used local high school and college players as instructors
for the NIS Soccer Academy. These instructors bring their soccer knowledge, experience and enthusisium to each
session. The kids have an opportunity to work with players that they can see in the fall playing for the local high
schools, players that they look up to. Each of the kids can see that if they some day want to play soccer at a high
level, they can do it, just like their instructors did.
Our senior instructors are Jon Nash, Pat
Nash and Matt Olson. Jon is our Lead Instructor designing and running each session. All are highly skilled soccer
players. More importantly, they are wonderful in dealing with the kids and have a great deal of experience in coaching/instructing
kids. You can find out more about Pat by clicking here and Jon by clicking here.
