Steve Nash
President, Senior
Instructor
Steve started North Indoor Soccer with his wife Mary in 1995.
At the time, Steve didn't really have agreat deal of soccer knowledge or experience but simply wanted to provide children
with a new soccer experience. They made a controversial decision at that time to make all of the NIS programs coed.
Many people said that girls could not play with boys at the 12 League level. Today all NIS programs are still coed -
all the way up to the 19 League! Since 1995 the program has grown from 75 players to over 750 players! It has
grown from just providing house game leagues to adding the NIS Soccer Academy, an All-Star progam, the Open Soccer programs
and the Adult programs.
Over the years Steve experience and knowledge has steadily grown.
He has coached in indoor since 1993, he has designed and been the head instructor for the NIS Soccer Academy since its inception.
Steve has coached summer traveling boys teams every year since 1992. Over the last five years he has coached at the
U16, 17 or 18 levels and his teams have gone to the MYSA State Tournament four times!
Steve believes that NIS should be run professionally, be responsible
to the parents concerns, provide a fun and learning experience for players of all abilites. A goal of Steve's over the
next few years is to reach out to the immigrant communities in the northern suburbs to increase their participation in NIS
programs.
