2011 NIS Mighty Mite Schedule

Mighty Mite Starting Information and Session Player Lists

Mighty Mites are held on Saturdays.  The number of seesions is determined by how may players register. The time and team you are assigned to the first week is temporary.  During the first session we will evaluate all of the players and try to get similar players assigned to the same session.  Each session will be divided into two teams.  we will discuss the session assignment with you to make sure that it will work.  In some cases you will want to be in the same session as another player who is at a different level.  If this is the case we will discuss which session will work the best.

Each team will be assigned an instructor and we welcome parent volunteers to help coach.  Don't worry about the training or your soccer knowledge, that is what the instructor is for.

Each session is planned and overseen by Jon Nash. Jon has been a trainer in this program for 9 years.  Jon was an all-conference sweeper, played in the Minnesota State High School Tournament and went to State with a number of high level summer traveling teams.  The other trainers have all played soccer at a high level and have had experience training young players.

Each player must have soccer shin guards (do not pay a lot for these at this age), soccer shorts and soccer socks or athletic pants - the shin guards must be covered.  At this age many of the players prefer athletic pants because they keep them warmer and give them a little more protection.

Cost: $80 per player

The first session we will evaluate the players to make sure they are at the right level.  If we do not think they are at the right level, we will talk to you about moving to a different session.  If you think they should be at a different, level don't hesitate to talk to us.  At the end of the session we will divide the group into two different teams.

Mighty Mites Do's and Don'ts

  • Parents can sit in the stands, in the player bench areas or can stand on the field.
  • Parents are free to take pictures on the field (e-mail them to us and we will post some of them on the web site).
  • Parents can bring treats or drinks - however, you cannot have pop, juices or food in the bench area (water is okay) - the pop, juices or food should be handed out in the lobby area.
  • Non-players are not allowed on the field to play and or shoot at the net on their own (this distracks the kids).
  • Players can wear jackets or sweatshirts if they are cold.
  • Players are only allowed flat-soled tennis shoes - no spikes or cleats.

Summer Mighty Mites Program

Every year we are asked why we don't have a summer program.  The reality is that we never had the people available to help us run a summer program the way we want to run a summer program.  We are now able to look into establishing a summer program for the Tiny Tots and Mighty Mites due to the fact that we have instructors led by Jon Nash who have worked in the winter program for over a decade and are ready to expand the program.

The summer program will be an extension of the indoor program.  If you are looking to have your child develop into a travelling player, we can help work toward that goal.  If you are looking to have your child stay active and discover the fun of playing soccer, we can help achieve that goal.  Both goals are equally important to us.  Since we are not formally tied to any summer traveling program, you can be assured that we have no motives other than what is best for your child.

We are presently looking for a location in the Anoka, Andover, Coon Rapids or Ramsey areas.  We are also trying to gauge the potential interest in such a program.  If you do have an interest in a summer program for a Tiny Tot or Mighty Mite, click the link below.
