NIS Playoffs

Playoff seedings are determined by your regular season standings. If there are enough teams is a league we will spilt into an upper and lower division for the playoffs.

Please review your on-line rosters to make sure that all of your players are listed and with correct numbers.

Have your team meet at least 15 minutes before your game time so that you are organized and ready to go at game time.  We cannot get behind schedule during the playoffs.  Make sure you provide the penalty box with the name of your starting goalies and the names of the goalies if you latter switch keepers.  Don't forget that all players have to have their team shirt or they cannot play (including goalies).

We will try to announce all playoff games.  Have your players tell the referees who scored and got assists on goals and we will announce it.

For Coaches

Once the playoff schedules are posted you can see when your team plays if they advance through the playoffs.  If you have a scheduling conflict contactyour league coordinator immediately.  While we will try to accomadate scheduling problems, the reality is that we do not have many options and if you do not immediately notify us, we will have no possibility of re-scheduling.

The playoff games have to start and stop on schedule so it is important to be organized and ready to go.  We recommend that you meet with your team at least 15 minutes before game time.  Make sure that your team roster is correct.  We will try to announce all playoff games so make sure that you team is in your bench area 30 seconds before game time.  We will announce each player.  Once both teams are announced each teams starting players should be ready to go.

If time is wasted game time will be lost.

If regulation ends in a tie, the game will be decided by a shoot-out.  If it looks like a tie is possible you will be asked to fill-out your shootout order during the game so we can immediately go to the shoot-out at the end of the game.  The shoot-out will be held on the west side of the arena.  The first five shooters for each team will be asked by the referees to come forward.  At least one girl must be in the first 5 shooters.  The rest of the team must stay back.  After a player shoots, they need to go to the boards on their teams side of the arena so we can track who has already shoot.  If neither team is ahead after the first 5 shooters, the shoot out will continue in a sudden death format (i.e., both teams shoot and is one scores and other doesn't, the scoring team wins).

If your team is scheduled to play in the game to follow a shoot-out, both teams can begin warming up in the other end of the arena.  As soon as the shoot-out is over, each team can go to their respective side to warm-up their keepers.

For Fans

NIS tries to make the playoffs a fun event by announcing the games and playing music and having halftime shootouts on NIS Championship Saturday.  While we hope that all of the playoff games are exciting, please remember they are just games and everyone should lead by example and demonstrate good sportsmanship.

Even if your team does not make it to the championship, you are still welcome to come and watch some great scorer.  In addition, we have shootouts during each halftime for the fans.  Each fan who scores a goal will win a prize!
