2008 Indoor News

The 2008 Playoffs!

The playoffs are just around the corner.  Coaches are responsible for getting scores in and checking that they are posted correctly.  All of the playoffs, except for the Open Adult and Old Fart Leagues are single elimination tournament that ends on May 10th.  The teams will be seeded according to the standings at the end of the season.  The U16 and U10 Leagues will be divided in to an Upper and Lower division.  The top seed will play the lowest seed, etc.

The playoff schedules are being posted and reviewed.  Keep checking back incase the schedule has been revised.

The coaches should check their roster online to make sure that the names and numbers of each player is correct.  We will use the inline rosters to announce the players and for goals and assists.  Each team should be at the arena at least 15 minutes before gametime, especially at the U16 and U19 levels.

For the Adult Leagues they will play a one game playoff - the top two teams will play each other, the next two and so on.

We will have shootouts at halftime during each of our Championship games.  If you know of any business that would like to be one of the sponsors of the playoffs by donating gifts for our various contests that make the playoffs some much fun, have them contact us through the website.

We hope everyone has a great playoff experience!  While it is fun to win, please remember that winning is not the most important thing and for each winning team there is also a losing team.  Let's win and lose with class and good sportsmanship.

Only Registered Players Can Play - How to Add a Player

The season has started and everyone should have their team shirts.  Teams at the U16 and U19 leagues can add players without league permission but must register the player through the league.  No player can play until they have turned in their signed registration form and registration fee.

Players  will not be allowed to play without their team shirt.   This includes goalies and players who forgot their team shirt.  If a player loses their team shirt their coach must contact the league.  Any player who plays without being registered will be banned from the league for the 2008 season.  Any player who allows another to use their team shirt will also be banned and the team will forfeit all of their games (they will be allowed to play the games).

The teams at the U10, U12 and U14 levels cannot add a player without league approval.  The league will consider team standings, team sizes and the league ratios of age, boys and girls.

NO Children, Non-Players or Non-Coaches in Players Bench

Only players and coaches are allowed in the player bench area.  The referees have been instructed to have non-players and non-coaches leave the bench area.  If they do not leave when asked, a penalty will be imposed on the team  This rule is imposed by the arena and supported by NIS.  Quite simply, it is not safe to have extra people on the bench , especially children.

Welcome to North Indoor Soccer. The season starts on the weekend of March 8th.  To find out what team you are on or to look at the schedule, go to your league page and click the link marked "Standings, Rosters, Schedules and Other League and Team Information".  You can look-up players by or by team.  You can print an overall schedule or by league or team.

As always we will have leagues for children starting around 3 years old going up to 19 years of age. We will also have two adult leagues. The season for all leagues goes until the beginning of May.

For information on the various leagues please look below and on the navigation bars on the left.  If you have questions, concerns or would like to be added to our North Indoor Soccer E-Mail List
there is a link below and on the right.

New Rules!
There are new rules for the 2008 season.  You will see more 2 minute penalties, less discretionary calls and the referee's have the authority to impose a 5 minute major penalty on players.  The rules will be enforced more like in a hockey game.  Hopefully, this will help control the game and players so that play does not get out of hand.  The new rules can be viewed on the Referee/Rules page of this website.  Please read the rules!

Registration Information
Registration forms are now available for downloading by going to the NIS Registration Information page of this web site.  Some leagues have openings.  If you wish to register contact the League Coordinator of the league you are interested in to see if there are openings and make arrangements to get you registered if there is an opening.
