2009 Indoor News

The 2009 North Indoor Playoffs are Near!

The 2009 North Indoor Soccer playoffs are just around the corner. For the U12, U14, U16 & U19 leagues the playoffs are a single elimination playoff with each team being seeded by their regular season finish.  The Adult leagues will play one playoff game with the 1st place team playing the second place team, the 3rd place team playing the 4th place team, etc.

The standings are based on the scores and results sent in by the teams.  If one team sent in a score and the team that they played didn't, the score and result will stand even if it is not correct.  If neither team sent in a score the result will be recorded as a 0 to 0 tie.

When looking at the standings prior to the last game played you have to subtract one point for each game that you haven't played because games that have not yet been played will show up as a 0 to 0 tie.  Once the last game is recorded the standings will be accurate.

The playoff schedule is posted but remember that is based upon your seeding, not you team number since we don't know how each team will finish.  All of the championship games will be played on Saturday, May 9th.  As always we will announce lineups and will have halftime shootout contests for the fans.  If your team doesn't make it to the finals come to the championships, see great soccer and win a great prize in one of our halftime shootouts!

Only Registered Players Can Play - How to Add a Player

The season has started and everyone should have their team shirts.  Teams at the U16 and U19 leagues can add players without league permission but must register the player through the league.  No player can play until they have turned in their signed registration form and registration fee.

Players  will not be allowed to play without their team shirt.   This includes goalies and players who forgot their team shirt.  If a player loses their team shirt their coach must contact the league.  Any player who plays without being registered will be banned from the league for the 2009 season.  Any player who allows another to use their team shirt will also be banned and the team will forfeit all of their games (they will be allowed to play the games).

The teams at the U10, U12 and U14 levels cannot add a player without league approval.  The league will consider team standings, team sizes and the league ratios of age, boys and girls.

NO Children, Non-Players or Non-Coaches in Players Bench

Only players and coaches are allowed in the player bench area.  The referees have been instructed to have non-players and non-coaches leave the bench area.  If they do not leave when asked, a penalty will be imposed on the team  This rule is imposed by the arena and supported by NIS.  Quite simply, it is not safe to have extra people on the bench , especially children.

Welcome to North Indoor Soccer. The season starts on the weekend of March 8th.  To find out what team you are on or to look at the schedule, go to your league page and click the link marked "Standings, Rosters, Schedules and Other League and Team Information".  You can look-up players by or by team.  You can print an overall schedule or by league or team.

As always we will have leagues for children starting around 3 years old going up to 19 years of age. We will also have two adult leagues. The season for all leagues goes until the beginning of May.

For information on the various leagues please look below and on the navigation bars on the left.  If you have questions, concerns or would like to be added to our North Indoor Soccer E-Mail List there is a link below and on the right.

New Rules!
The new rules imposed for the 2008 season will continue in 2009.  You will see more 2 minute penalties, less discretionary calls and the referee's have the authority to impose a 5 minute major penalty on players.  The rules will be enforced more like in a hockey game.  Hopefully, this will help control the game and players so that play does not get out of hand.  The new rules can be viewed on the Referee/Rules page of this website.  Please read the rules!

Registration Information
Registration forms will be available in the near future for downloading by going to the NIS Registration Information page of this web site.  Some leagues have openings.  If you wish to register contact the League Coordinator of the league you are interested in to see if there are openings and make arrangements to get you registered if there is an opening.
Tiny Tots & Mighty Mites

Rink Rules!

No soccer balls can be dribbled, kicked or bounced in the arena except in the rink itself.

Only players and coaches are allowed in the players bench, behind the players bench and along the boards between the players bench and the corners of the rink.  No one is allowed to climb on or over the boards.

No pop, food or gum in the bench area.  Basically, you can bring water to the bench.  We don't want anything spilled on the carpet that can stain or stick.  Treats, pop, etc. can be given to players in the lobby after the game.  No spitting anywhere in the arena including on the carpet!
